Getting a dental crown can take a lot of time. After all, it involves messy impressions, multiple dental visits, and not to mention temporary dental crowns. However, we can save you so much time at North County with the help of Cerec technology. This allows us to design, create, and deliver a brand new crown in a single day!
How Does It Work?
Once the tooth is prepped, a special hand-held camera will take images of the tooth which will be sent to the computer. Here, a three-dimensional model will be adapted and shaped on the computer by an operator in the dental office. This information will be sent to a milling machine which will create the design using a porcelain block. Almost done! The final steps are to try the crown on for size, glaze and polish it, and finally cement it down! The entire process generally takes 2 to 2.5 hours.
